Why I Left Software for Real Estate After 20 Years

Title card for the article: Why I Left Software for Real Estate After 20 Years

Quick Answer: I worked in software for 20 years, through two acquisitions and many reorganizations. In 2016 I got my real estate license to build something I could own, the way my dad did when he became a Realtor in 1990.

What was software like?

I studied computer science and worked in software for 20 years. In that time, I lived through two acquisitions and more reorganizations than I can count. Nothing stayed put.

Why real estate?

My dad became a Realtor in 1990. I went a different way first. I was tired of the ground shifting every couple of years, so in 2016 I got my license to build something I could own.

How does that help my clients?

I know what it feels like when your ground is not solid. That is why a home that finally feels permanent matters to me.

Frequently Asked Questions

When did you become a Realtor?
In 2016. I became a broker in 2020.

What is your brokerage?
2020 Realty, where I am Broker and Owner.

Do you still use your software background?
Yes. I build systems for my clients: every date on one calendar and every page read.
